We are Joy, Zoë and Bente and together we are ‘De Nieuwkomers’. In the summer of 2020 we graduated from St. Joost School of Art & Design. Driven by the need to work collectively, we founded our art and research collective De Nieuwkomers.

It all started  by a search for a nice place to live together. Initially we were looking for apartments in the city of Rotterdam but soon we found out that that would mean renting a tiny apartment for a huge price without a garden so we decided to head to the countryside. By living here we have given ourselves the space to dream of possible alternatives.

We want to use this place as a fertile ground to create ideas, attempts and failures to find out how things can be done ‘differently’. We are only Nieuwkomers (Newcomers) and there is still  so much we want to learn. That’s why we need  other Nieuwkomers.

So are you a scientist, homeless person, construction worker, politician, tomato grower,  philosopher, artist, gardener, slide builder, journalist, accountant, child or king and do  you also want to learn and share what you  do know? Then we would like to invite you to exchange ideas and start projects while enjoying  everything our vegetable garden has to offer at that time.
